This mid 19th century picture frame was hand carved from a single piece of soapstone. The stone is beautifully figured with a striated almost rockingham looking coloration of rust and yellow. The frame has a look quite similar to that of an early 19th century Bennington frame. The surface is excellent with a deep patination to the polished stone.
