This fantastic basket dates from the late 19th to the very early 20th century. The basket is unusual in design in that it is made of a combination of stacked wooden slats and woven splint. The basket also retains it's original bold orange and red painted surfaces. The basket is rectangular in shape with a great design that includes a wonderful woven handle. I'm not sure where the basket was made but it is very sturdy and obviously designed for heavy use.
