This beautiful whale oil lamp has a lightbulb shaped blown glass font with a wide open top fitted with a tin two spout burner. The font is engraved with a delicate Tulip floral pattern with the whole attached to a stepped clambroth base with a wafer. Both the engraved Tulip designs and the pressed clambroth base are highly indicative of a Pennsylvania, possibly Pittsburgh, glass house origin. The lamp displays with a grace and form that are seldom matched.
